OSMOSIS
The similarity is that they both involve the movement of molecules between a membrane. In osmosis, water diffuses through a semi-permeable membrane without energy due to a difference in solute concentration between sides. In active transport, energy is used by the organism to "push" molecules through ports in the membrane, regardless of solute concentration.

Things like oxygen, CO2 and lipids cross the membrane with simple diffusion. Water can cross the membrane with osmosis when the water moves through a channel protein in the plasma membrane. Glucose, potassium, sodium etc. moves through a carrier protein in the membrane with the process of active movement. In the process of active movement energy is needed and it is given by the glucose or ATP from the cell.
Diffusion. With the need of energy, it would be called active transport.

Any movement of molecules into or out of a cell without the expenditure of energy is called diffusion. If the molecule uses special channels to diffuse through the membrane (again, not expending energy), it is called facilitated diffusion.
