If it was made before '92, it's not supposed to.
If you lost the keys and you can prove that you are the titled owner. The Chrysler dealer can order an ignition key with the VIN number. You may have to have the door locks replaced, if the door key is different from the ignition key. If that fails, try an auto electric shop to get the locks changed, maybe even a locksmith.
Yes, originally the door and ignition keys are the same. but if you have to replace your ignition / steering column, you will have a different (re-keyed) key for the door and for the ignition.
Yes
A lock smith, or a Housing/Hardware store
AnswerYes, mine is. I have a 94 escort gt, and only have one type of key. -However, I have a 1990 Ford Bronco II Eddie Bauer, and I have two keys which will only open and lock the doors, and two keys that will only operate the ignition.
Well, I don't see that it would help it any! There are 2 keys for a reason! Why would you want to insert the door key in the ignition? It surely won't start the vehicle! Unless the ignition is already screwed up and can start with anything! The tumblers in the the locks for the ignition and doors are different! It would be like putting your house key in the car! Won't work!
In 96, one key should work all locks in the vehicle. 1996 was a crazy year for keys on the mustang. There was 2 different anti theft systems (Chip or No Chip) and 2 different key systems (New 8 Cut or Old 10 cut). That's a total of 4 different blanks to choose from.
Keyless door locks are more secure than the traditional keyed locks because doors cannot be picked nor jammed and you will not have a problem with losing your keys. All you have to do is to enter a code.
call a locksmith
Nope. Ignition well not work. The key you need is just a simple looking round key. In other words a 1995 Town Car has two keys one for the ignition, and door locks. And the second key is for the glove box and trunk.
Not from the factory , just the one key works for the door and ignition
suggest taking the fuse for the locking doors out--make sure its not operating the window also
