i assume there is no clicking sound??? possible causes could be a faulty igntion switch, try hitting under the steering column where your ignition key goes in, give it some real good hard hits, and try, if it cranks/starts, you have a faulty ignition switch, if not, you may have a blown fuse, a bad battery, or a bad starter, generally speaking, alot of clicking, means a faulty battery, one click, or few clicks means faulty starter,
First, make sure there's fuel in the tank! engine needs 3 things. air, fuel, spark. you can check the fuel and spark. check the spark. you can pull one of the plugs and crank it as you ground the plug to a metal part of the engine (ground the threaded part). if you have spark the problem will be with the fuel delivery. see if you have fuel pressure. listen for the fuel pump. squeeze the incoming fuel line from the tank. it should be hard. if it is then take a look at the injectors. otherwise look at the wiring for the engine. Hopefully someone hasn't buggered it.
an engine also needs good compression to fire. you can hook up a compression tester to the cylinders to see the psi output. unplug all the spark plugs. hook up the tester to one of the spark plug holes. crank the engine 4-5 times. the pressure should raise up maybe up to ~150 psi. depends on compression ratio. you can pick up a book for your car at http://www.germanautoparts.com/Books/BMW/7-Series and if that still does not work, check your starter, it might not be working. That happened to me.
Terrestrial noise is noise that originates on the earth. Extra terrestrial noise comes from space.
If you turn up your interior dashboard light settings, then the radio display will be brighter too. The radio dims to the setting for the dashboard when the lights are turned on.
It can be interferance caused by Fluorescent lights, Transformers, (such as battery chargers) switchless lights, you name it. Anything that plugs into electric current in your home can in one form or another. In your quest to find the problem, you will often overlook what the actual problem is.
Check the ignition switch itself, sounds like it may be the problem.
check the fuse on the wires on your radio, there is a separate wire for the display lights that should be wired to your dash lights
turn the knob on the left side of the steering wheel on the dash. It will brighten the dash, and radio lights by turning it to the right and it will dim the lights by turning it to the left.
one word. starter..
radio lol
Have you tried pushing the button to the left of the steering wheel? the one that shuts the lights off when they are on. if that doesnt work, if you have an aftermarket radio, and the adapter for the security, that might be why.
if it is a five speed, you have to release the brake and only have the clutch pushed in. my camaro did this last night.
turn the radio off
Sounds like the charging system failed and the car ran until battery power was deleted.
what makes my 2002 inside lights will work during the day but not night, my dashlight, speedometer ,radio lights
Not using bright lights, turning off music/radio so you can hear traffic at intersections, opening windows at intersections, getting fog lights on the car, and using only low beans on the car.
You'll probably end up dancing to the radio (with someone or even by yourself), turning lights on and off, and rubbing your furniture or pets to death.
The most common cause of noise in your AM radio is a loose or corroded ground wire. Clean and tighten the ground wire and the AM noise should disappear.
