i just found out what this problem was it turned out to be my VATS module, it burnt out.
it is the security system for fthe ignition and it controls power to the fuel injectors hope this helps dan
Majority of the time the problem is in the ignition key chip or ignition lock cylinder
security to hamper theft. It prevents "smashing" the ignition cylinder to turn the steeering wheel
How do you reset the security code on a 1994 ponitac firebird formula......
If you have the "PassLock" Security system on your vehicle, you MUST take it to the dealer to have the ignition changed out. The will have to reprogram the security system to match. If they don't your security may stay engaged which will cut of the fuel.
Replace the ignition cylinder wich should come with a new key and it will fix the problem.
You need a new ignition cylinder with a new key with the right resistor.
This vehicle has an ignition lock cylinder which has two very thin gage wires attached to it as part of the security system. Each time you turn the ignition lock cylinder these two wires move with it and after years of this movement one or both become detached. You can replace the lock cylinder or bypass the security system altogether by installing a resistor the same value as the resitor chip in your key into the wiring harness below the steering column.
You replace the ignition cylinder and then turn the ignition (with key) to on position. All dash lights will light up in the on position. After a few seconds only the security light will flash. Leave the ignition on for 10 minutes while the security light flashes. At the end of the 10 minutes the security light will go out. This will be the first cycle of reseting the E.C.M. to read the new cylinder and ignition system replacement. At this point you do this process two more times. This will take proximately 30 minutes. At the end of all three cycles the car should come on. If you want someone to walk you through it E mail me at archuleta67@gmail.com.
Honda only sells the ignition cylinder lock as a complete assembly which includes: the wiring, lock, security sensor...etc. Therefore the new key that operates the new cylinder must be programmed to let the computer know to shut the security system off. If your vehicle starts for a few seconds then stalls, this is quite possible what needs done. You may get away with putting the old key next to the ignition cylinder and retry the starting procedure. I do not know if the interference of the new key will allow the computer to recognise the older key. Good Luck
You have to put the car into program mode, usually you can order an new keyless entry and it has the instructions. If you are talking about the ignition key security, you will have to buy a remote start for the car as this will bypass the resistor in the key.
you don't the vehicle will not fire if it does not have the proper resistance through the security circuit.
