Had the car been starting OK until this problem surfaced? If so, the starter is probably eliminated as a culprit.
If the battery cable connections are loose and/or cruddy, either at the battery or at the other
ends of those cables, (black goes to a ground, red goes to the starter) you will not have a good current path to the starter.
I'd check to make sure all those connections are clean and tight.
If the battery charger didn't have a good connection to the battery, it probably would not
have charged it.
FriPilot
Charge or replace the battery.
Charge the battery, start the car and check the battery with a volt meter. Should have over 14 volts, if only say 12.4 to 13, then change the alt. or check the wiring.
the battery is dead. charge it. if the battery won't charge buy a new one.
Disconnect the positive battery cable and charge it with a slow charger. Clean and reconnect the cable once the battery is fully charged.
Your going to have to add more detail. Could be the starter, dead battery, no gas in the tank. Also try describing the nose, if anything. Check or charge the battery And look the spark plugs, use this image: I put the image in the "related links" area.
well there could be many reasons is it making any noises is it turning over you may need to charge your battery. let me know and ill let you knw
Alternator is not putting out a charge.
Answer :Pontiac 2000 not startingdoes your engine try to turn over or just seem to be dead when you try to crank it?if it does nothing at all when you try to crank it, it could be an ignition switch problem, electrical problem, the battery could be going bad, alternator problem, bad starter,if no power at all replace battery or alternator. if you hear a "clicking"sound when you attempt to start the car check out the silinoid. My Pontiac ignition switch is completely gone, when mine would not crank or even try to turn over. Hope this info helps.Female in N.C. Before you go out and spend money on a new battery. Check this do you have headlights? Are they very dim? Do you hear a clicking sound when the key is turned? Get a boost from someone to see if it will start. If it does then. Put your battery on over night charge (trickle charge). If you find you are still having problems then look into buying a new battery (Most auto stores will load check ur battery for free) I just dumped my battery for just this problem and bot a Motormaster Eliminator (which according to ctc doesn't fit my carrier - its does just a little tighter fix)
Check battery, charge it or change it. Dead battery.
Its likely either the battery connections (terminals) are dirty, or where they connect is...or the battery while showing a charge is bad when on a load. If it starts with a jump from another car...it's the battery.
Repair the alternator to battery connections or replace the battery.
I would suspect the battery has been discharged, is defective, or you have loose or corroded battery terminals. Remove and clean the terminals and if that does not solve the problem charge the battery with a battery charger. If it will not take a charge then replace the battery.
