The "Check Guages" lite probably is due to the overheat issue. Engine overheating is a difficult problem to solve as there is so much involved. I would start with the Thermostat. Costs only a few bucks. Next, I would remove the upper portion of the fan shroud and flairing on top where the hood latch is. You can visually inspect both sides of your radiator and A/C condensor for trash. After cleaning all the trash out (you can blow water from your water hose and nozzel through the fanes from the engine side toward the front grill) I would replace the fan clutch. Again it is modestly priced. Since the upper portion of the fan shroud is off, it is a great time to replace that clutch. I would replace that anyway along with the thermostat.
first check the fuses......maybe the cluster of gauges shorted out?....may need to replace it.
One of the gauges is telling you something is wrong. It could be it's overheating or not charging or no oil pressure.
The check gauge light on a 2000 Chevy blazer could be several things. The oil could be low or the other fluids may be low. Take notice of all the gauges. One or more may be out of its normal parameter notifying you there is a problem.
My older Blazer has a 'check engine' light and also a 'check gauges' light. When the 'check gauges' light is on, check your other gauges like the temp and volt gauges. One of them may be showing something different than normal.
Had the same problem on two occasions with my 99 Blazer...sounds as though your alternator is going bad. The car will run good while the battery is charged up, but as the battery wears down, the engine will run poorly and the gauges will operate erratically. Eventually, the battery will not have enough energy to allow the engine to run, and it will stall.
It is telling you that one of the gauges is not within normal range. It could be you are not charging or overheating or have little or no oil pressure.
they dont work
i had the exact same problem with our 91 voyager, i cleaned the battery terminals and the problem went away immediately
'check gauges' means one of your dash warning gauges went beyond normal paramaters, alerting a problem... my guess is- it's your oil pressure gauge....CHECK YOUR OIL level... if the level is low, when the truck leans (as when you exit an off ramp) the oil pressure will drop.
Hi, Had similar problem in my nissan sentra 2004, went to cluster specialist he fixed it, problem was in cluster. Pls refer this website http://www.piclusters.com. Person name is "Jorge". Thanks, Ganesan
It means that you have a low reading on one of the gauges and you need to address the problem.
The check gauges light comes on when one of the gauges is not in the safe range.
