Did u ever find a solution?!?! My driver side rear door will not open from inside or out! Both doors won't open from inside but the doors were still useful when opened from Outside. It's annoying!
The child lock feature is probably switched on , open the back doors from outside and on the end of each door about 3 inches from the latching mechanism is a small lever , move the lever down
On your 1997 Mercury Mountaineer : Open the rear doors from the outside and on the end of the doors near the latch you will see a small lever that is used to select child locks on or off
If the door on a 1993 Corsica opens from the inside and not the outside, one issue is likely the problem. The linkage connecting the outside door handle is disconnected or broken. It is also possible that the door lock is faulty.
if you spray the latch inside of your doors with wd40, this should take care of your problem. Over time dirt build up inside causing the signal not to be received by the sensor. hope this help.

Is your vehicle equipped with child safety locks on the rear doors? If so, you should find the lever or switch on the door when it is open below the latch. jvarady Problem is the rear doors cannot be opened from the inside or outside.
I try to activate child safty lock, but now i can open both the doors from inside and outside as well.
LOL...I had the same problem until I realized the driver door locks all the doors and must be lcoked from the outside. I assume it is a safety precaution to avoid lokcing your keys inside.
Air in between the two doors forms a non-conducting layer & does not allow heat from inside to flow outside.
I have had this problem, there is a small spring inside one of the doors that is broken causing the doors to relock on there own, replacing the broken spring should fix the problem
