Remove the hose or housing at the throttle body. Depress the butterfly valve to open it. Spray s short blast of carburetor or throttlebody cleaner then try starting the car. If it fires you are not getting fuel and 99% chance you need to replace the fuel pump. You may also be able to hear the fuel pump turn on when you turn the key one position to the on - not two positions to the start position. if you don't hear any noise it may also mean a bad fuel pump.
Does the engine turn over faster than normal? If it does, you threw your timing belt, not a big problem really since they designed the over head cam engines to fall into safe mode which collapses all of the valves to avoid damage.
Try replacing the fuel pressure regulator
Check to see if you are getting fuel.
It sounds like the solenoid is working but the starter is not. Check the wires on the starter. Possibly the starter has gone bad.
Maybe you need to check the oil The oil light will stay on until the engine starts. If the oil light was on when it was running and now it will not start then you may have internal engine damage. Take it to a professional.
Check the ECC and fuel pump relays
Assuming that the starter is rotating and turning over the engine. Check for spark Check for fuel - You can get a can of starter fluid form an auto supply stoe - spray a little into the intake. Car should try to start - if it atttempts to run for a few seconds then the problem is fuel relatedm if not then it is spark related.
If you start turning weird
That is the check engine light, see related questions below.
the engine
what would cause a no start condition when engine spins in a 95 taurus sho 3.2l
Check with Taurus Customer Service through their website.
You don't. It is regulated electronically. If the check engine light is or has illuminated start with having the codes pulled and diagnosed.
if the starter is TRYING to start the engine check to see if your getting fuel. if it doesn't then check battery connections, starter, fuses. if no fuel check fuses, pump, and filter. if it is simply not firing check plugs, distributor cap and rotor, and plug wires. HOWEVER if it ISN'T turning over, but the starter is turning the motor then check the TIMING BELT.
Check the ignition coil for power. Check the crank position sensor, and make sure that the engine is turning over ( timing belt not broken.) Check to make sure that fuel is getting to the engine as well.
this is a very general question, you need to narrow it down some, such as its turning over but not starting. are your lights coming on, do you have the key, are you turning the key, does it have fluids, etc....
Check to see if you are getting fuel.
Start off with 4.5 quarts. Start the engine, then turn it off. Check the dipstick about 15 seconds after turning the engine off. I'm guessing it will be about 5 quarts.
Probably a dead battery but you may wish to check your battery terminals for corrosion.
