Stop any rumors from spreading. Give your mate a girlie night in with lots of chocolate and ice-cream and sugary, unhealthy stuff. Watch lots of comedy's (no sloppy/romantic films as that will make her worse) and get her to write a list of 7(or more) things she didn't like about the guy Then write a list of guys who out hot him/ have a better personality/ cleaver/ more mature and hopefully that will help her get over him. As for the guy ask him why he did that to her. If he doesn't have a good answer, like he says it was a laugh, they broke up, he didn't know, no comment, then tell get him to tell everyone that what he said wasn't true and apologise to your girl. But it's best you keep them away from each over. Confront the guy and ask him why he's lying about her. Then if he doesn't have a good answer tell him all the things that make him a bad person (I'm guessing he's one of the people in "the cool group" i.e the boy that everyone likes)
