By the way it sounds, its not good. You probably need new brake pads, front and back, but for sure the front first if you need to save money. You may just need to put more brake fluid in,or what people call bleed your brakes, not sure how that's done.Maybe just press brake pedal down till the tension catches and the brake pedal is hard to push.If that happens then you know your brakes are catching.good luck.
The brake pedal will sink to the floor when applied and the brake fluid reservoir remains full.
more than likely its your brake switch on the brake pedal. pull up on the brake pedal and see if it goes off. if it does you need a new brake switch if it doesnt you might be able to adjust it. if adjusting it doesnt do it your still going to need to replace the brake switch.
dont fully understand? if the brake pedal went to the floor there is a hole in the line some where or braking system If you are saying it is going straight to the floor like "whoosh" without any pressure then it is either your brake booster or master cylinder or both.
By going to the nearest service!
Brake pad service is something that you need to keep your car to stop. If you don't get regular brake services which is usually between a year and a year in a half then you are going to spend a lot of money on brakes.
A brake pedal going directly to the floor is a sign of a few things. First, you are in need of brake fluid. Second, the brake pads are probably almost worn out. They may be worn out past the point the ABS light would be active. The ABS light may also be burned out.
It really depends on your definition of reasonably priced brake service. I suspect that you mean cheap but quality service. The closet you're going to come to this is to be on the look out for auto shops having promotions.
Bleed the brake lines and make sure there is no air in the system.
they are bled to remove air out of your brake system. bleeding prevents you from having mushy brakes or your pedal going to the floor. it also makes the pedal tight and more sensitive to your feet.
Vacuum brake booster is defective or the hose going to the booster is leaking.
Yes and no. If you do you're going to need to use an epoxy two part floor paint after sanding the surface of the floor. However it is pretty risky if it doesnt turn out right- so the safest and money saving bet is no.
No pressure in clutch resevior, its next to the brake resevior, if its empty, put more, if not you have a leak.
