This is usually normal, although it is still always a good idea to check the stitches from time to time just to make sure that they are not coming undone.

If they appear to be coming undone any further or you have any serious doubts, do not hesitate to visit your vet.

You can keep the stitches closed with a simple band-aid or surgical tape, just try to stop the cat from pulling ot off. The adhesive will stick to the wound till it heals.
