My cat just got spade last week and I was looking at the incision today and the top looks red like it's open a little.How do you know if your cat has ripped their stitches or if its just healing?

This is usually normal, although it is still always a good idea to check the stitches from time to time just to make sure that they are not coming undone.
If they appear to be coming undone any further or you have any serious doubts, do not hesitate to visit your vet.
You can keep the stitches closed with a simple band-aid or surgical tape, just try to stop the cat from pulling ot off. The adhesive will stick to the wound till it heals.
