== == * NEVER self medicate your pet!!!! Only your vet should be giving you permission by phone or, take the cat in. Put it this way ... if you had a child limping around the house I would hope you'd take them in to see a doctor. * Hepatopathy (liver disease), renal (kidney)failure, and GI (stomach and/or intestinal) ulceration/perforation have been reported in dogs and cats treated with ibuprofen. from: http://www.petplace.com/drug-library/ibuprofen-motrin-advil-etc/page1.aspx # I am not doubting the fact that Ibuprofen can be used on dogs or cats, but the pet owner needs to know the dose of such a medication by their vet and thus, phone the vet or see the vet, but don't guess the dosage yourself. As instructed by my veterinarian, I treat my female, 35-pound, 13-year-old Chow/Golden Retriever mix dog, who suffers from Arthritis, with baby aspirin once a day. Approved by your veterinarian, perhaps you could treat your cat with half of a baby aspirin. A vet product called Metacam is available for cats, and is a type on non-steroidal anti-inflammatory agent similar to Motrin; even better, it is in a flavored base that cats will actually eat when mixed with a little food. If your cat is limping, depending on its age it may have arthritis similar to people. A glucosamine product called Cosequin is available to be sprinkled daily on food, and my cat eats it without objection.
