My mother had a blood test done last week and results came back with creatinine in her blood and wonders why this is she has also been told not to eat red meat before the test is done again?

Half of stored creatine comes from meat and fish and vegetables do not contain creatine and thus, vegetarians show lower levels of muscle creatine. Blood tests by your doctor can tell if serum creatine shows kidney damage. Because this showed up in your mother's blood test DOES NOT mean she has kidney damage. It's important to stay away from meat and fish, so their is poultry, whole grains, fruits and vegetables. Low in saturated fat and limit refined or processed food high in sugar and sodium. Less salt or high sodium ingredients show be VERY limited. The doctor may add meats and fish into your mother's diet but she only need 3 1/2 ounces of protein at each meal. Also only take medications YOUR MOTHER'S DOCTOR PRESCRIBES and if she should have a cold, etc., then check with the pharmacist before taking any over the counter medications. If your mother smokes as her to try and stop. Creatine is stored in the kidneys, so it's possible the doctor is testing to see how much creatine has been stored in the kidneys and if it's toxic. It is extremely important that your mother work closely with her doctor.
