They may or may not always be the best source for advice, but like any you need to pick and choose what you will take to heart and what you will merely consider. Parents are sometimes valuable advice givers because they have been out in the real world a lot longer than you and have almost DEFINITELY been in the same situation you may be in now. Think about how many times you've done something and wished you could go back and change it, well parents have the ability to at least try to keep their children from making the same mistakes.
