You need to get epoxy from Home Depot, it's in the Plumbing department. I used this years ago on my filter. It is in a tube costs about ten dollars and will last forever. All you need to do is roll it back in forth in your hands to form a thin like snake and place it over the crack. Good luck
My skimmer is cracked on the side were the strainer basket fits. I used first PVC Primer & then PVC Cement. Its not leaking. These 2 small cans come packaged togaether. I got it at Home Depot.
Is the skimmer plastic? Does it have a black bottom? If so, there is a kit for this. Check out black bottom skimmer repair - search.
Dig it up and replace the leaking section.

Possible causes: holes, cracks in vac hose - bad lid o-ring on pump - pump seal leaking - cracked pump lid or housing - pump basket full of debris - cracked or broken plumbing between the pump and the skimmer/vac hose connector.
Best guess is that there is a leak in the return pipe from the skimmer to the pump. Sorry to say its probly not a cheap fix. There also could be a leak at the gasket around the skimmer opening.
I had this problem as well and it was a cracked gasket in between the pump and the pool. When I wasn't vacuuming the basket was gravity fed by the skimmer but when vacuuming it was suction fed and air enterd the hose. Check your fittings and connections. Hope this helps. Derek
A skimmer weir is the plastic flap and the opening of the skimmer. It traps leaves that are pulled into the skimmer when the pump is running and then holds the leaves in the skimmer whne the pump shuts down
In order to vacuumn the pool you must first put in the vacuum and the hose. You can siphon the air out of the hose by putting it in front of the return to dispace all air in the hose line. Then turn off the pump. Insert the end of the vacuum line either into the port at the bottom of the skimmer in the pool or remove the skimmer basket and insert it in the bottom of the skimmer. Then after the line is secure, turn on the pump motor. Your vacuum should be ready to use (manually) or run automatically if you have an automatic pool cleaner such as an Aquabug. If you have a slimline skimmer there is a port located just below the skimmer door it is used for the vac hose. After connecting the hose you put your skimmer lid down inside of skimmer and then you can turn on pump. By doing it this way you can let skimmer basket catch all large debries. This saves on having to backwash so much.
if your talking about the plane skimmer there is no skimmer but there is a very simulair plane called a dodo
