Go online a buy a manual for that year Bimmer.
I have a 91 735i and boy does it have a lot of electrical
issues. My hubby broke down and ordered the manual which costs about
80.00 dollars, but well worth it. It's about three inches thick!

Before doing anything check the fuses under the hood near the passengers side of the car. You may have a fuse blown that cost a dollar. If that is not the problem then order the Manuel. BMW's are very tricky when repairing. I would do the simple checks first and then go to the dealer if all else fails.

Have the same problem with a 635/csi. I'm not technically a mechanic, but, pretty sure it's the heater control valve.
