4 active volcanoes on earth include Kilauea on the big island of Hawaii, Anak Krakatau between Java and Sumatra in Indonesia, Mount Nyiragongo in the Deomcratic Republic of the Congo, and Mount Pinatubo on the Island of Luzon in the Philippines.
There's 130 active volcanoes and 76 volcanoes have erupted in historic time.
Volcanoes have been here over 4 billion years! practicly sincethe world started noot to mention the volcanos that have been active on other planets
there are 2 "potentially active" volcanoes, and those are: Coso and clear lake. the other 4 have been active in the "past" and those are: Lassen peak, long valley caldera, mount Shasta and medicine lake. so there are no actual "active" as of today volcanoes
Eyjafjallajokull is the real name. NOT Stromboli and definitely not Etna ...Don't be naive to these fools! The name Eyjafjallajokull is in Iceland.
The major types of volcanoes are cinder cones, composite volcanoes (aka stratovolcanoes), shield volcanoes, calderas, and plateaus.

magma ash lava stones
About 4 million years ago, Minnesota had many active volcanoes. The volcanic and ocean activity caused the formation of the states bedrock.
Volcanoes can be active or inactive. When a volcano is active there is magma or lava moving around getting ready to make an explosion. When a volcano is inactive there is either rocks and bits of other stuff melting in the main vent making magma getting ready to become active or they are not doing anything, just sitting there like a mountain. The four main types of volcanoes are shield volcanoes, composite volcanoes, also called stratovolcanoes, cinder cones, and lava domes. Composite volcanoes are the most abundant, and an example is Mount Fuji in Japan. These volcanoes are formed from layers of ash. In contrast, shield volcanoes are gently sloping volcanic mountains built almost fully of lava flows. They were named on account of their shape , which is reminiscent of an ancient warrior's shield. These volcanoes are typically much larger then composite volcanoes. Lava domes and Cinder cones are much smaller than shield or composite volcanoes.Thats what some of the Volcanoes are!
