There were various terms, such as Serre-tete ( lit. head covering) veil, wimple ( which originally means someting lilke a flag or banner) the odd headrress worn at one time by the French branch of the Sisters of Charity- such as Ste. Catherine Laboure- and the fictional Flying Nun- are called Cornettes. this means little horns and does not refer to either Coronet - a type of crown, or Musical Instruments. There are different terminolgies used in different orders.
