Mount Edgecumbe is a dormant volcano located at the southern end of Kruzof Island, Alaska.
There are approximately 1,500 active volcanoes in the world today. Some of the most familiar ones are Kilauea, Krakatoa, Mount Fuji, Mount Pinatubo, Mount Rainier, Mount St. Helens, and Vesuvius.
Mount Rainer in the United States is considered a dormant volcano. There are hundreds of dormant volcanoes in the United States.
It's a volcano that hasn't erupted in a long while.

It is hard to say really. First there are 3 qualifications of a volcano's activity. Active: The volcano is erupting or is showing signs of erupting. Dormant: The volcano is not erupting or showing any activity but should start again. Extinct: The Volcano has not erupted in the last 10000 or more years, and is not expected to show any active signs in the future. Olympus Mons is the largest volcano in the Solar System, and is located on Mars. Most scientists believe that the volcano is extinct and will remain extinct for millions of years. Some scientists are now considering the possibility that the volcano is not dead but merely dormant. Proof of this is that there are evidence of ancient lava flows that should have been wiped out my meteorite impact.
Active, dormant, and extinct.
#1. Active Stage #2. Dormant Stage #3. Extinct Stage Active Volcano: A volcano that is erupting. Also, a volcano that is not presently erupting, but that has erupted within historical time and is considered likely to do so in the future. Dormant Volcano: Literally, "sleeping." The term is used to describe a volcano which is presently inactive but which may erupt again. Most of the major Cascade volcanoes are believed to be dormant rather than extinct. Extinct Volcano: A volcano that is not presently erupting and is not likely to do so for a very long time in the future
Mt. Tambora last erupted in 1815 A.D. producing the largest historical eruption in human history. The eruption killed over 90,000 people, and created a large crater. Smaller eruptions have occurred since, and in 2011, the alert level was raised to 3 (out of four) due to ongoing shallow volcanic tremor. It is likely that Mt. Tambora will erupt again in the near future. This is an active and very dangerous volcano.

Dormant- not active.

active- or live volcano is one that is erupting or has shown signs that it may erupt in the near future dormant- volcano to awaken in the future and become active extinct- or dead volcano is unlikely to erupt again

Some volcanoes erupt fairly frequently, others may be dormant for hundreds or thousands of years. The pattern of eruptions, if any, depends on the specific volcano. It depends on the volcano. Each is different and has a different type of eruption pattern. Mt. Vesuvius in 79 AD erupted with a pyroclastic cloud and the eruption had begun 3 days earlier. Yet, in 1944 it erupted with a slow moving lava flow. So, even the same volcano can have a different type of eruption.
Yes, it does.Mt Uluigalau Volcano - Taveuni, Shield volcano, elevation 1240 meters, last eruption 1658 ADKoro Volcano - Koro Island, Cinder cones, elevation 521 meters, last eruption HoloceneMt Nabukelevu - Kadavu Island, Lava domes, elevation 805 meters, last eruption over 10,000 years agoRotuma, Shield volcano, elevation 256metres, last eruption Holocene
