The four major oceans are Atlantic, Pacific, Indian, and Arctic.

In 2000, the International Hydrographic Organization (IHO) defined the Southern Ocean as the 5th major ocean. The Southern Ocean surrounds Antarctica and is sometimes called the Antarctic Ocean. It is the 4th largest ocean, behind the Pacific, Atlantic, and Indian Oceans, but larger than the Arctic.

In short, the four major oceans are the Pacific, Atlantic, Indian, and Arctic Ocean.

The four largest oceans on Earth are the Pacific Ocean, Atlantic Ocean, Indian ocean, and the Southern Ocean. The Pacific Ocean is the largest of the four and covers more than 60 million square miles, making it the largest ocean in the world. The Atlantic Ocean is the second-largest, covering roughly 41 million square miles. The Indian Ocean is the third-largest, with an area of about 28 million square miles. The Southern Ocean, which surrounds Antarctica, is the fourth-largest ocean and it's the youngest ocean of the four, it's an ocean that encompasses the southernmost waters of the World Ocean, generally taken to be south of 60° S latitude and encircling Antarctica. It covers around 20 million square miles. These oceans are important not only for their vast size and the diverse marine life they support, but also for their role in shaping weather and climate patterns, supporting global commerce and transportation, and providing a source of food and other resources for human populations.
