God loves you and wants you to be free, He doesn't want you to be a slave to alcohol. Being sober can improve your relationships with people, and will give you freedom to pursue other things in life that you may have avoided because of your need to drink. Alcohol can destroy your physical health, so being sober is a more healthy way to live.
