The general answer to your question is no. The timing chain generally lasts the life of the motor. A timing belt has to be changed regularly or it will break and leave you stranded. A belt is quieter and cheap but very expensive to replace due to labor involved. A chain will generally last the life of the car and be cheaper in the long run because it does not need to be replaced. Manufacturers are moving to timing chains in order to lengthened service intervals in their vehicles. "100,000 miles before a spark plug change," is usually the slogan, and this change from belts to chains allows them to say that.
