You can't, its done by the computer if you have a knock noise, replace the knock sensor. its locate on the back of the engine near the alternator.

Harmonic Balancer needs to be replaced on the front of the crankshaft. Use a screwdriver as a listening device. Put it on the oil pan and listen for noise. This is only if you determine balancer not the trouble. If you here noise from oil pan most likely rod bearing problem.
