Nuclear energy is a material with very high energy content. As this material degrades it gives off large amounts of heat. This heat is used to boil water into steam which, in turn, drive turbines which are connected to generators.

These generators pass magnets across coils which produce electric power. The process is very efficient. A piece of radioactive material the size of a dime powers an aircraft carrier for 20 years.

The downside is that many people do not bother to understand this power so they are afraid of it. Nuclear is many times safer then coal mining (as an example). The power created is much cleaner, but because the extremists fear what they do not know, we have avoided using this power that the rest of the world enjoys.

Even the French claim they have cut down their carbon footprint by converting 90% of their electric power generation to nuclear. They also decrease their independence on foreign oil. If you would like to see the United States stop fighting in the Middle East, we need to become energy independent by making these systems in this country.

Is helium combined with neon a chemical process?

No, mixing is a purely physical process. Chemical processes result in the creation of entirely new substances with different properties from the original substances.

How can chemical properties of a substances be determined?

The chemical properties of a substance can be determined by changing the chemicals structure. This is the process that occurs in a chemical reaction.

What is the process which one or more substances are changed into others?

They could be chemical or (thermo)nuclear processes.

What is the process in which substances are changed into different substances?

The processes are called chemical reactions.

Which are the small openings in the nuclear envelope that regulate which substances enter and exit the nucleus?

The small openings in the nuclear envelope that regulate what substances enter and exit the nucleus are called nuclear pores. A process of depositing a vesicle's contents outside the cell is exocytosis.

Process which substances are changed into different substances?

Though a nuclear reaction could be the answer to this question, it is more probable that a chemical reaction is the change of one or more substances into a different substance or different substances. (The changes in nuclear reactions normally include only a single element.)Examples abound. The elements hydrogen (H2) and oxygen (O2) combine in a chemical reaction to form water (H2O) in the following familiar reaction:2H2 + O2 => 2H2OWhen ozone (O3) breaks down spontaneously, it forms oxygen in the following reaction:2O3 => 3O2
