I have been told that the cluster is essentially "throw away". Beware of scammers when looking for a replacement. I was quoted $500.00 (including programming)+ $350.00 for installation. I went to the wreckers and got a cluster for $60.00. Disconnect the positive battery terminal. After snapping off the small plastic trim underneath the windshield, snapping off the vent cover on the dashboard, removing about a dozen, "easy to get at screws," the dashboard easily lifts out of the way. All you do is unplug the cluster at the back, plug the new one in, and you're done. No programming is required... the onboard computer automatically resets the odometer to the correct mileage. Re-install the dashboard and trim in reverse order. The whole process took me about 45 minutes. It's much easier than one would think.
Replace the dash board.
there is no light bulb for the odometer. its a digital display. you have to replace the dash. used usally a 100. or so. had it happen to me. 2000 buick regal gs
Yes and no, the actual odometer and speedo assembly will fit but the the whole VP cluster will not, although it will bolt in the wiring is different and you will fry the dash or under dash wiring.
remove dash replace bulb(instrument cluster)
Sure, but at some effort. You need to remove the instrument cluster from the dash to replace it.
I would say you have a problem with the dash cluster. If both speedometer and odometer were not working I would say the problem may be the speed sensor but being only the odometer is out I would blame the cluster. I believe you will have to replace the cluster as a whole with a reconditioned unit. This will probably be a dealer item only.

odometer cable and speedometer cable are the same thing, unscrew cable from speedometer head under the dash and unhook it from the tranny and pull the cable out and replace with a new one.
Remove the screws and clips on the dashboard. tilt the lower steering column carefully an slide out the dash unit. You should be able to see a set of bulbs and the one for the odometer is at the center. Remove and replace with a new one.
On my 2002 Sunfire it's under the dash on the passenger side.
headlights and dash lights in 2001 sunfire wont turn on.
The best way to fix a radio and odometer display that doesn't work is to check the fuses. When you replace the bad fuse then the lights should work in your dash.
