Well, how old is it, how many miles are on it, and what weight oil are you using now? My 1991 with 274,000 miles using 5w30, runs about 40psi cruising, and 20 at idle. If I use 10w40, it rus 45 to 50 cruising, and 35 to 40 at idle.
The oil pressure sending unit on a 1997 Buick LeSabre is located on the bottom side of the engine, near the oil filter. It monitors oil pressure to ensure that the pump is working properly.
My oil pressure is usually slightly below the 40 mark on the oil guage.

It is not an oil level sensor it is an oil pressure sensor. It just unscrews.
