Olds 1988 cutless ceira 80 of time it wont start unless you spray a shot of starting fluid the other 20 it will start some times it run irratic and some times it wont can you help you?

INSTALL A NEW FUEL FILTER FIRST. IF THAT DOESN'T WORK CHECK FOR FUEL PRESSURE WHEN YOU TURN THE IGNITION ON. THE PUMP RUNS FOR 10 SECONDS AT FIRST TO BUILD FUEL PRESSURE. IF NO PRESSURE IS THERE AFTER THE PUMP RUNS FOR 10 SECONDS REPLACE THE PUMP.
