The word alert can be an adjective, which describes someone who is aware of his or her surroundings and is paying attention to them. The guard was alert. Alert can also be a verb; if you alert someone to some situation you are directing their attention to it. I alerted the policeman to the robbery in progress.
... The question should be "what does 'wariness' mean?", and it is a derivative of "wary" which describes someone who is cautious or anxious about possible problems or consequences.
I'm not entirely sure what this question is asking, but if you feel threatened or that there is a danger to your life at all, you need to alert someone, anyone, even the police if you have to. Your safety is priority.
