A homophone for "precious bucket" is "precious bouquet." Both sound the same when spoken but have different meanings.
The cast of The Memoirs of Hyacinth Bucket - 1997 includes: Tony Aitken as The TV Repairman Peter Cellier as The Major Judy Cornwell as Daisy Jeremy Gittins as Michael the Vicar David Griffin as Emmet Hawksworth Geoffrey Hughes as Onslow David Janson as Michael the Postman Angus Lennie as Mr. Farrini Mary Millar as Rose Robert Rawles as The Milkman Patricia Routledge as Hyacinth Bucket Clive Swift as Richard Bucket Josephine Tewson as Elizabeth Warden
Just that- Buckett, although it was spelt with two 't's. However, Hyacinth was such a social climber, and had such ambitions to pretend that she was a member of the higher social classes, that she used to pronounce it 'boukeiy'. But the whole point of the comedy of 'Keeping Up Appearances' was to satirise people who pretend to be a class above the ordinary- in reality, Hyacinth & Richard were an ordinary, regular, run-of-the-mill lower middle class couple, and Richard KNEW that and was happy with his lot. Hyacinth, however, wasn't at all happy about it, and had social ambitions- it was both funny and sad at the same time.
I think that one of the funniest examples of an embarrassing last name isportrayed by Patricia Routledge on the BBC comedy, "Keeping up Appearances".One of the most obvious examples of Hyacinth's snobbery involves her last name. According to her husband Richard, Bucket is pronounced as it is spelled. However for Hyacinth, it is pronounced "Bouquet," à la française. Roy Clarke said he got the inspiration for this character trait after meeting someone with the surname "Bottom" who insisted it was pronounced "Botome". Despite her insistence on the more elegant French pronunciation most people usually call her "Mrs Bucket" or more disparagingly "That damn Bucket Woman again," behind her back.
Hyacinth Bucket from "Keeping Up Appearances", there was also another sister Violet.
