Spain was the biggest exporter of olive oil to the city of Rome. The most important gold mine in the Roman Empire was Las Medulas in Spain. Pliny the Elder said 20,000 Roman pounds of gold were extracted early. Spain also exported silver and other metals, timber, horses and wine.
