The EGR valve on the 1.7CDTI Astra 53Plate is near the throttle body. It is on the driver's side of the engine.
Check your oxygen sensor could damaged or there is air leak on the manifold and exhuast. Hi i had exactly the same problem on my 1.8 astra coupe took to to variouse garages and tried change all sensors exhaust, and air intake none of these solves problem. i then thought i would have a look my self, i removed the throttle body and all pipes connected, ( my throttle body was filled up with gunk) i cleaned throttle body and put back on car and PROBLEM SOLVED, i wouyld suggest trying this as not one garage i took my car to did but it has ran lovely ever since

Opel astra is an excellent , stable ,fast and very strong car . But there is one problem I as an owner found ,it's that opel astra is slow a bit in low gears ( first and second ) but in high gears it's very fast and stable in high speeds.

Not necessarily dead but it is notifying you there is a problem that should be looked at.
Sometimes when you convert an astra to lpg they change the spark plugs to single element. If the garage has put standard vauxall twin element plugs in your car it may cause the problem you have described.
