Some candidates for the title of "breed with the greatest bite force" include the Rottweiler, The Mastiff, the Kangal, and the Hungarian Kuvasz. It is not easy to measure the exact, maximum jaw pressure of these animals.

∙ 13y agoThere have been no actual scientific studies done on canine bite force, but it is usually related to the dog's overall strength and muscle tone. The Doberman was bred specifically for bite strength, and some estimate it has bite force of around 600psi (Wolves range in the 400's). But really any of the "attack/guard-dog" type breeds (German Shepherd, Rottweiler, Pit-bull, Doberman) would be able to deliver a comparable bite.

There are Bullmastiffs that are powerfully built dogs who have been bred to guard. Dogs that are used as draft animals such as Siberian Huskies, Alaskan Malamutes, Saint Bernards and Bernese Mountain Dogs are also very powerful animals because they were (and still are) used to pull heavy loads. Many people also think that the American Pit Bull Terrier is the strongest breed of dog because of it's stature and the strength of its bite.
