pH level should be maintained between 7.2 and 7.8.
pH can be too high, but 8.7 is not too bad for most fishes and corals. You should try and determine the source of the high pH and neutralize it if possible (unless your particular animals are adapted to higher pH).
If pH levels in your body are too high or too low, the body will not function correctly. Ideally, the pH of the blood should be maintained at 7.4. If the pH drops below 6.8 or rises above 7.8, death may occur. Fortunately, we have buffers in the blood to protect against large changes in pH.
Because if its pH is too high then it'll probably harm your hands when you wash them!
Alkalosis
Well pH has an affect on goldfish health: too low or too high a pH causes the fish to be stressed and if it is stressed it is more susceptable to disease and will not grow.
too high or too low pH denatures the enzymes. you will get a small reaction with a base or acid. neutral pH level maximizes reactions
Sodium hydroxide, NaOH, has a very high pH, so it can be used to raise the pH of some mixture that is too acidic.
6.5 pH is too low pH for the blood. It is dangerous. You have got acidosis. The physician will take prompt action. The same pH in the stomach is too high. It is not dangerous. But it may hamper proper digestion of the food.
Yes. when the pH level is too high then the enzymes will denature and become inactive. :)
If the pH is to low meaning its too acidic, or if the pH is to high meaning its too basic it can slow down the enzyme even destroy it. Never say kill, as enzymes are not living things.
If the pH is too high, above 7, drink sulfuric acid to reduce the pH level (neutralize the base).
What do you think will happen to it? It will die of chemical burns if the pH is too low or too high.
