What kinds of storage devices do this partition magic support?

The partition magic support the partitioning of the hard drive.

What is Partioning in data structure?

Partitioning (horizontal partitioning) is breaking a table up into smaller pieces and distributing those pieces across devices so that the dbms can resolve queries by accessing each partition in parallel. The physical schema designer (or DBA) decides the criteria, based on a column in the table, for partitioning the table and defines the physical location of each partition. The database does the rest. A date, such as a transaction date, is a very common value used in partitioning. From a query standpoint, it is just a table and the existence of partitions is transparent to the end-user. Another form of paritioning is vertical partitioning. In vertical partitioning, the columns of a table are divided into two or more other tables with a 1:1 corresponence between rows in each table. These appear as separate tables in the schema.

Why do you need to partition a Hard Disk drive before you use it and not partition other storage devices such as CDs or DVDs?

On a hard disk, only one partition is required, and that is merely to enable formating of the disk for the particular OS. I believe there may also be other size/bios related reasons for having multiple partitions in the past, which may no longer be relevant today. With CD's and DVD's, they come partially pre-formatted, and the burning software handles the format specifics at burn time depending on the mode you've chosen. Partitioning on hard disks can also greatly reduce defrag times as well, but obviously there's no need for that with optical discs.

Hard drive partition?

Many drives come with a single partition already set up, but all storage devices are just treated as a mass of unallocated, free space when they contain no partitions. To actually set up a file system and save any files to the drive, the drive needs a partition. The partition can contain all of the storage space on the drive or just some of it. On many storage devices, a single partition will often take up the entire drive. Partitions are necessary because you can’t just start writing files to a blank drive. You must first create at least one container with a file system. We call this container a partition. You can have one partition that contains all the storage space on the drive or divide the space into twenty different partitions. Either way, you need at least one partition on the drive. After creating a partition, the partition is formatted with a file system β€” like the NTFS file system on Windows drives, FAT32 file system for removable drives, HFS+ file system on Mac computers, or the ext4 file system on Linux. Files are then written to that file system on the partition.

How do you recover your password in SUSE Linux?

have a look @ http://en.opensuse.org/Recover_Root_Password you will need a install media (boot CD or DVD) for the (open-)SUSE version you want to recover the root password from in fact, RECOVERING is not the right word, here; the only way to recover it is to have it written down somewhere or someone else remembering it (still); otherwise, you are down to RESETTING the root password. boot the system from the install media by choosing RESCUE (type F2 / F3 / F4 / F5 in the boot menu to see which option does that; Linux rescue is a good bet). once finished booting, you have to make your server / workstation's root partition the current root; 1st determine which is the root partition of your server; $> ls -l /dev/sd* will show you all (e-)sata and usb devices and the partitions thereon. some newer motherboard also show ATA disks here; otherwise you will get list of ATA devices with $> ls -l /dev/hd* for other devices like (external) RAID, if you don't know which device it is, start the install (just hit the enter key without typing in Linux rescue) and choose ADVANCED partitioning. this will show you all the available disks & there partition. once you know which partition is the root, follow «CD/DVD Recovery Mode» from above link

How do you determine which drive is the CD-ROM drive?

If there is one partition in a hard disk and one CD device then the default drive letter assigned is D. Else, If there are two partitions in a hard disk and one CD device then the default drive letter assigned is E. Else, If there is only one partition in a hard disk and two CD devices then the default drive letters assigned to both CD devices are D and E.

Why is your 250GB hard drive showing as file system RAW with used space 0Gb and free space 0Gb?

This error is most commonly found with remote HDDs, or USB storage devices. Although it's not an error as such; showing a file system as 'raw' usually means it is unpartitioned and unformatted. In this state, there is no file system present, there is no distinction between used and free space, and so presents 0Gb for both. Partitioning: You'll be familiar with your main HDD being C:\ Think of 'C' as being the label for that space. If a 250Gb HDD has one partition, then that partition is 250Gb. We can partition that HDD further. Let's make one partition of 100Gb, another partition of 100Gb, and a third of 50Gb. We'll label them C, D, and E. When you look at 'my computer' it will look like you have three HDDs, but really it's the one HDD with three partitions: Local Disk (C:) Local Disk (D:) Local Disk (E:) For most purposes, you'd just create one primary partition the size of the HDD. Formatting: There are two main file systems to format an HDD or other storage device in. FAT32 and NTFS. Think of them as filing systems. FAT32 is an older file system, used in older versions of windows for example. It is generally less secure than NTFS. There is also a limit on the size of files able to be saved in FAT32. NTFS is used on the later versions of windows and in current USB storage devices. It has a range of benefits beyond the scope of this answer. How to partition and format my HDD or storage device: Right click on 'my computer' and select 'manage' Select 'disk management' Select your drive or storage device BE VERY CAREFUL YOU CHOOSE THE CORRECT DRIVE Right click and select 'partition'. You want to create a primary partition using NTFS. Allow the size to be default. Once partitioned, right click and 'format'. Once formatted, it will show as file system NTFS and show accurate used/free space.

What are the conditions under which ohms law is applicable?

Ohm's Law is applicable in every case, even in cases of non linear resistance such as diodes and light bulbs, and in reactive cases such as motors in AC operation. It just becomes more complex (no pun intended) to calculate effective resistance.

Ohms law is applicable to linear circuit means what?

You cannot apply ohm's law to non-linear devices. This is because, the non-linearity introduces different V-I characteristics which cannot be answered by mere Ohm's law.

What if e drive does not show on your computer?

Drive partitions and devices are allocated drive letters by Windows (other operating systems do not use drive letters). In order to allocate a drive letter to a drive, a partition or physical disc must exist for it. In the case of optical devices (CD/DVD/BluRay), a drive letter may be allocated to the device, but the device will not show up in the Computer folder until a disc is physically inserted. This can be changed by clearing the check mark in Folder Options | View | Hide empty drives in computer folder. Other removable devices will only show up when they are physically connected. If you're sure the device is connected but is still not showing up, use the Disk Management snap-in of the Computer Management console (right-click Computer, select Manage). This will list all connected hard-disks and their partitions. If a device is not listed, then it is either not connected or is not recognised -- it may be faulty. If the device is listed, check the partition status for a remedy. If a partition is unformatted, or is formatted in an unknown format, Windows will not assign a letter to it until it is formatted using NTFS (recommended) or FAT file systems. However all data will be lost when you format a partition.
