What caste are Patel from?

Patels belong to the Upper caste Landlords of Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh. Next after the Brahmins....they are actually the most dominant upper caste in Gujarat. That is the reason why other castes of Gujarat like Jats,Gurjars,Brahmins,Rajputs(Darbar),Lohana sometimes adopt this surname to mingle with the real upper caste Patels. In caste if a Patel is O.B.C or S.C, he is certainly not a real Patel but is misusing the Upper Caste status of The Patels.

Who are at the very top of the caste system in Hinduism?

There were five layers in the Caste system in India. At the bottom were the 'untouchables.' These were janitors, street cleaners, shoe makers, etc. Above them were the Shudras, who were the servants of the next 3 layers. Above them were the merchants and landowners known as Vaisyas. Above them were the warriors, the Kshatriyas. Finally, at the top were the Brahmins, who were the priests.

Hindu cast system?

The Brahmins were and are priests in the highest social caste. Kshatriyas were and are the second highest level in the social caste system as they included the courageous warriors. The Vaishyas the next level was and is composed of traders and merchants. Lastly, the Sudra included the manual laborers, like the farmers and artisans. Outside of the caste system were the "Untouchables" that were deemed to be lesser than all within a caste.

What are the 6 caste of Brahmas?

I think you are referring to the four (not six) basic castes of Hinduism. The top caste is the Brahmins; in traditional Hinduism, they were the educated elite and believed to be more advanced in their spirituality. The next caste is the K'shatriyas (who traditionally tended to be involved with the military); Vaishyas (the business class), and the Shudras (laborers, servants, etc). At the very bottom are the people formerly called "untouchables" but more often called Dalits.

Can untouchables be reborn into a higher caste?

In Hinduism, the concept of reincarnation means that one's caste can change in their next life based on their actions. However, the idea that untouchables can be reborn into a higher caste is not universally accepted and has been a point of debate and contention within Hindu society. Discrimination based on caste remains a significant social issue in many parts of India.

Where were the untouchable in India's caste system?

The Indian Caste System is the traditional organization of South Asian, particularly Hindu, society into a hierarchy of hereditary groups called castes or jatos. In broad outline, marriage occurs only within caste (endogamy), caste is fixed by birth, and each caste is associated with a traditional occupation, such as weaving or barbering. Hindu religious principles underlay the caste hierarchy and limit the ways that castes can interact. The caste system is connected to the Hindu concept of the four varnas, which order and rank humanity by innate spiritual purity. The highest varna is the Brahmins, or priests. Next comes the Kshatriyas, the warriors, and then the Vaishyas, the merchants. The lowest varna is the Shudras, consisting of labourers, artisans and servants who do work that is ritually unclean. Contact between varnas, and particularly the sharing of food and water, must be limited to avoid pollution of higher, purer individuals by lower, more unclean ones
