Tower City native, is a young bright star to watch. Penn State and rival school Ohio State are in a battle for this young man. Started varsity since he was a sophmore in high school when Sr. quarterback Ray (Bobby) Archer broke his ankle. Whelski had an amazing Sr. season leading his fellow Vikings to a wopping 4 - 7 season. This is the most wins since Whelski's sophmore season where he lead the Vikings to a 4 - 6 season. Whelski threw for approximatly 1,080 yards. His main target was Keith Thompson. Running backs Chuck Rodichock and Ryan Good kept up with the rushing to open the passing game so Whelski could show his cannon off. Whelski probably has the strongest arm in the state. Ohio State and Penn State never heard back from him. "He is basically the man." says head coach Scott Cecco. "Whelski should have his jersey retired and hanging up in my room" says assistant coach Paul Herb. Along with Paul Herb, Randy Russalavage, the well respected Athletic Director would like to see Whelski's #7 jersey hanging up in his office. "Whelski is going to come over to my house to talk about schools that he is interested in"--Randy Russalavage. "I still did not get back to Ohio State or Penn State because im exploring all of my options for the best college learning experience. First comes grades then football comes second but I recently received a call from the Philidelphia Eagles. They are looking to pick me up as a sleeper in the draft after my sophmore year in college then dropping McNabb."--(quote from Whelski on high school draft night). He also released that he wanted to marry his current girlfriend from Penn State but hes not sure if shes the one for him. All and all Whelski is one of the top recruits Pennsylvania has to offer.
