I think it's because people are afraid of what others will think of them if they choose something over another thing. this happens so often that people usually look it over, but it can be about anything. from believing in judism or god or what type of shampoo to use. another thing is that we humans are people pleasers. we say what others want to hear and that's why we don't stand up for ourselves and what we believe in.
