first check that the fan is turning when the car is getting hot . the fan or the fuse for the fan might be blown.
if that does not work the radiator could have become clogged with dirt restricting the water getting cooled when you are in traffic .
Check also the Air Conditioner Freon (gas), it might be low.
your water pump may be problem.the way to kow it just ramp the engine to higher rpm, if the tamp lower then it might be it.
