Follow this information with a Haynes manual it doesn't cost much and prevents some serious head scratching and in case I missed something!
1) First of all try to locate all of the top timing belt cover bolts please note that there is also one at the rear of the timing belt cover down behind the bulkhead awkward that one.
2) Release the engine mounting bracket it has three nuts that are released with a 17mm socket. Left hand side of engine.
3) ensure that when this is released it is supported underneath the sump with a trolley jack and a piece of wood.
4) Support the car itself on a good jack or an axle stand and remove driver side wheel.
5) Remove the plastic covers to gain access to the crankshaft pulley.
6) lock the camshaft and injection pump with 8mm bolts. Also the crankshaft by inserting a further bolt in the flywheel also done with an 8mm bolt. This is done by rotating the crankshaft pulley always clockwise as described in the manual. I can assist further if necessary.
7) Now remove the crankshaft pulley retaining bolt. Sometimes its easier to loosen this first using a ratchet or spanner and jamming it against something solid such as the wishbone and using the starter motor to loosen it. remember to do this with no pins in pulleys!!!!
8) If the step above is required simply reinsert bolt and tighten until crankshaft turns always clockwise! then reinsert pins then remove the bolt again which will now be loose as not fully torqued.
9)Remove crankshaft pulley.
10) Loosen the tensioning pulley two bolts. Tensioner pivot nut/bolt and adjustment bolt then turn the tensioner bracket anti clockwise using a 10mm square key or ratchet!Spot the square hole.
11) Remove old belt and discard.
12) Locate the timing belt on the crankshaft sprocket first then idler roller, fuel injection pump, camshaft, tensioner roller, coolant pump. (Note I would change water /coolant pump at the same time) saves later expense.
13) Make sure belt is tight and a good fit by retensioning then remove pins.
14) Rotate crankshaft through two complete revolutions always clockwise and reinsert pins. This ensures timing is correct and a tooth has not slipped.
15) Remove pins.
16) Do not run engine without crankshaft pulley as belt could fly off and this is not good.
17) You are good now so reassemble!!
fanbelt on a 306 hdi how do fit it
A cam belt or timing belt on a Peugeot 306 GTI only needs to be changed if it breaks or shows signs of wear. Changing the cam belt on a vehicle is not part of the regular maintenance. It only needs to be inspected once a year unless problems arise.
Every 75k
yes there is.
The belt may be cut off, or the pulleys may be held in place by bolts as the camshaft is turned to align the holes so as not to lose the timing. Then replace the belt by loosening the tension pulley.
Rotate #1 cylinder to top dead center. set the cam gears to factory specs. Install belt. Set the belt tentioner to specs. Reinstall everything.

how to remove indicator stalk and cowl from Peugeot 306 lx
really easy fix! what model 306 is it? regards, Simon
To change the wiper blade on a Peugeot 306 unclip the old part from the mount. Take the new wiper blade and slide it into place until it clicks.
well its a extremely hard job to do, it takes proffesionals about 4 hours to change it. you have to take out your alternator just to reach it and honestly if your asking this question on here, the chances are you wont be able to do it yourself...take it to a garage it will cost bowt 100 quid for that...or alternatively if you fancy doing it then buy a haynes peugeot 306 manual book it shows you how in there.
