You don't say what kind of cable. If you're talking about CAT5 or 6, it's connected to pin 4.
All of the pins on one end of the cable connect to the same pin numbers on the other end of the cable, hence, the wire goes "straight through" from one end of the cable to the other.For example, pin 1 on one end of the cable is connected to pin 1 on the other end of the cable, etc.
