The answer is NOT Solidarity. That union continued in existence after martial law ended and the government negotiated with it.
It's Solidarity. I just read it word for word in my AP US History book.
Solidarity
In 1981 General Jaruzelski ( dictator and leader of Communist party) declered martial law ,Solidarity was banned and its leaders arrested.(Lech Walesa the head of a trade union called SOLIDARITY)
The Polish Government in Exile was aligned with the Western Democracies, and Stalin wanted a Polish Government that was Communist.
a slow tranformation
Never. It was declared by polish military officers.
The Polish Communist Party used to be called the Polish United Workers' Party. In 1989, the party was dissolved and many of its members joined socialist parties such as Social Democracy of the Republic of Poland which in turn became a constituent of the Democratic Left Alliance.
There are as many as 15 million persons in the US of Polish ancestry. Around 9 million US residents identify themselves primarily as of Polish descent. Many people came from Poland from the peril of World War II, or during the Communist rule that followed it.
Communism means a classless stateless society based on production for use. No prices, no wages, no money, hence no economy.

The answer is no. After the Soviet Union took over Poland they forced it to become a communist country and Poland became a satellite state. Poland- the polish home army in Warsaw started a rising against the Germans and the thought of the red army "liberation." 200 000 polish were dead within 2 months. Warsaw was flattened. Stalin refused to support the rising, meaning he had a polish capital without any opposition in. Stalin then set up a communist party dominated provisional government of national union in he polish city of Lublin. Elections were held, and the communists won nearly all the seats. The elections were said to have been rigged, and the opposition leader fled to London. Poland became a satellite state.
Stalin (secretly at first) wanted to destroy the Polish Government in-exile, and then replace it with a puppet communist government after taking Poland from the Germans.
In my opnion kosher controlled media in Poland have helped Aleksander Kwasniewski to become President ,by desinforming people of Polandof the true danger to its existence . Many years of communist Russian influence in Poland had tremendous impact on Polish people. Polish people were mostly unaware that ALL higher ups in SB (secret service) were occupied by Polish Jews. At the time of Polish transition to the independant state in 1989 , Polish Jews with communist's backround were the ones ,who suddenly became democratic opposition to communists , and took over immediately new roles in new Poland ,placing themself in position of power. At the same time they removed from SB files any documentsand evidences that could ever discredit them in future. The nation of Poland has been manipulated by these criminals. Therefore it was possible that the number one enemy of Poland could and became Polish president. This is just an objective facts one of hundred of thousands that took place in Poland !
