Betta breeding can be difficult. It takes a lot of time and effort to successfully breed and raise the spawns. Before breeding you must do months of reasearch. Without proper conditioning the bettas will only fight instead of spawn.

How come when you got a female Betta and you put it in with a male Betta and the female Betta hid in a plant what does that mean?

The male will try to spawn with her. If she is not in breeding condition she needs to hide to stay alive.

Can you put a female and male Betta fish in the same tank or bowl or will they fight to death?

It's best to only put male and female betta fish in the same tank/bowl if you are breeding them. If they are not breeding and they still stay in the same area, the male would most likely attack the female, so keep the female away! Also, if you are breeding betta fish, make sure to remove the female betta after she lays her eggs, as the male will care for them and chase the female away.

Can bettas mate in a betta keeper?

Well Betta breeding is tricky, some betta keepers are "ok" but others are NOT, your betta keeper must have a seperater to separate the male from the female. You must do this so the male can get use to the look of the female.. After 1-2 days put the female in with the male.. And watch them, if they fight then you will have to separate them again.

When do you put the female and male Crown Tail Betta fish together to have babies?

Can you put the female betta with the baby bettas after the male is removed?

No, she will eat them. The male should be removed as soon as the fry become free swimming - that's about two days after they hatch or four days after they are laid. Once you take out the male, start feeding the fry on vinegar eels and microworms. Any adult betta put in a tank with betta fry (even their own) will eat the fry.

When do you put a female betta with a male betta?

If the female is chubby around the tummy area you could add her but be prepared to remove her if the male gets too boisterous. If he starts building a nest then you know you are in with a chance.

Can you keep a male betta with a female betta for a long period of time with other fish?

No, you should never keep a male and female betta fish together for long time periods. They should only be put in the same tank for breeding purposes and then separated after.

When do you separate the betta female from the eggs?

As soon as the male has put all the eggs in the bubble nest.

How long before you can put betta fish together?

Male Bettas can not be kept with any other members of the Betta family. They can be kept with other species quite safely but will not tollerate another Betta (male or female) in their vicinity. Female Bettas can be kept together OK.

Why do female Betta eat their eggs?

Because Female betta fish lack the parenting instincts males do. Most females have just enough to help the male put the eggs in the nest.
