how can i find the radio unlocking code for my 01 kia rio and how do i do it
There is no single unlock code. If there was a single code, it would defeat the purpose of a radio security code, as the code would be leaked or become well known after just a short period of time. There are many codes out there, and the best way to find yours is to either take your car to a dealer or call the dealer. Provide them with your VIN number, and they can tell you. In the Volvo Computer system, they can pull up a build sheet on your specific car. It will tell all of the options that your vehicle shipped with, and will also list the Radio Code. If your car was upgraded with a different Volvo radio, aftermarket, then the code they have on file will be invalid, and you will need to take it to the dealer. They will pull the radio and find the code based on a number printed on the back of the unit.
Volvo S40 radio codeEach radio has a different code. You need to call a Volvo dealership and read them the vin number and they can pull the code up for you. However, in certain cases (like the one I find myself in currently), the radio in the car is not the original and therefore will not match the VIN. This happens sometimes when you are not the original owner. In this case, you will need to get someone (or do it yourself) to remove the radio and find the serial number. Once you have it, you can call a dealer and get them to look up the corresponding code. One other thought - on my 1999 V70 I was able to pop out the radio and the code was written on top of the radio.
Each radio system has its own particular anti theft code. It is on a card, the size of a credit card, and should be in the folder with your owner's manual. If you cannot find the card, your local Volvo dealer can research the code for you.
