replace the mounts
directions to change the motor mounts?
It will fit in there but none of the brackets, cables, mounts or lines will fit. No!
The transmission mounts are on both sides of the transmission at the bottom.
Perhaps you should check your motor mounts. Your car being a front wheel drive, have mounts on the top (only one on front passenger side), as well as beneath the engine (two on driver side, rear and front of motor). My guess is that, the top mounts need replacing. Look for where the rubber meets the bracket, there you will see the rubber has splinted and/or, is braking into pieces. Each mount cost between $25 to $40.
there are 4 engine mounts - left, right, front, and rear
Need new motor mounts..... That's what was wrong with mine.
Most likely the gearbox mounts are failing and need replacing. This can cause this problem even when the engine mounts are fine.
The motor mounts should not keep breaking if they are installed properly. The delay in the transmission indicates it needs work, probably a rebuild.
My girlfriend's 1995 Escort made a funny knocking/grinding/chirping noise from the back part of the engine. The motor mounts were loose and the problem was solved after they were tightened.
One clunk when accelerating (but now repeated clunks) and another when braking can be caused by broken motor mounts.
It is very likely. If no one tells you yes or no just look at the motor mounts and if they match up then you should be ok. Sorry I can't give you a yes or no answer although a 91 escort 1.9l engine will bolt into stock location on 91 gt motor mounts, none of the wiring is the same you will have to extract all wiring from donor non gt model not only is this true, butthe 1.9 is a ford enginethe 1.8 is a Mazda engine manufactured for fordneed i say more?
The only motor mount for the engine is on the right top of the engine when being viewed from the passenger seat. The other 3 mounts are on the transmission. This is why the motor has to be supported from the top when taking the transmission off.
