Henry VIII wanted the monastries' wealth. This was something that encouraged a number of rulers in Europe to break with Rome. At the time, the amount of property (real estate) owned by the church was immense and the Church was often referred to as the dead hand [in property]. The point was that an organization like the Church never dies, and so the property doesn't change hands - and isn't subject to inheritance tax. The Church had no incentive to use its property well ... So there was an economic problem. Henry closed down the monasteries so he could collect the taxes as he just wanted more money basicly!
Because he wanted to close the catholic church down in England so he could build his own church, the church of England.
Mostly because he wanted a divorce and the pope wouldn't give him one.
because monasteries had a lot of money and he wanted the money and that the monks and nuns were catholic so they objected to the church of England and the wouldn't follow Henry rules for the church
Henry VIII separated the Church of England from the Roman Catholic Church because he wanted a divorce with his 1st wife, Katherine of Aragon, but the Roman Catholic Church would not allow it so he took over the Church of England, made it protestant, and got his divorce.
Henry gave little answers. He made up alot of things that made the munks looks bad. Henry only closed down the monastery because he needed money to go to war , so he sold all the valuables and land they had. It left the monks homeless and several thousand peasants with no look.
Henry said that they were being lazy , and getting other people to do prayers for them. Monks aren't entirely meant to have any money but according to Henry , there rolling in it.
No because of greed actually. Remember that King Henry wasn't actually a protestant, he was still a Catholic. He had the Church of England founded so he could get a divorce. Henry Vii closed down the monasteries to sell them as he was a particularly greedy person.
to get rich
