Ford's scheduled maintenance guide for the 1997 Ford Ranger states to INSPECT the timing belt ( 2.3 L only ) at 120,000 miles. Wvafan , another contributor to this website and also a Ford mechanic/technician likes to change the timing belt at 90,000 miles I believe . ( Gates and Dayco websites - they manufacture timing belts - recommend every 60,000 miles )
show me a picture and diagram of 1997 ford ranger timing belt replacement
1997 Ranger 4.0L engines have a timing chain.
I have a 96 ford ranger 2.3. On the crank timing, does the mark on the plastic cover TC mean top dead center?
does a 1997 1.5l maxda protege have a timing belt or timing chain. When should i change it.
u need a scanner to set it
It's not a regular maintenance item like a timing belt is I'm not a mechanic / technician but if you are having the engine rebuilt you would want to change the timing chain and gears Also , if the timing chain was causing some kind of problem
No , the 2.3 liter 4 cylinder in a 1997 Ford Ranger is NOT an interference engine ( according to the Gates website )
It has no Timing Belt, it has a Timing Chain.
$0. It has a timing chain.
2.3 L - 4 cylinder - BELT 3.0 L and 4.0 L - V6 - CHAIN
No tools needed, that 1997 Cadillac Deville doesn't have a timing belt.
ventures do not have a timing belt. only a timing chain that does not need to be serviced
Mustang's have timing chains not belts and do not have interference engines. Change the timing chain when it brakes or stretches to the point it throws off your valve timing.
2 marks lined up
YES - according to Gates ( they manufacture timing belts etc. ) the 2.3 L four cylinder engine used in the 1997 Ford Ranger IS A NON INTERFERANCE ENGINE
There is no timing belt. There is timing chain. You do not need to ever change it, they last. Except if you change smtg else around, like water pump.
A 1997 Monte Carlo does not have a timing belt just a chain!
I have a 1997 Infinity J30 and it has a timing belt. I changed it at 140,000. Yes, change it before you have big problems.
The Gates website ( they make timing belts etcetera ) shows for the 2.2 liter four cylinder engine in a 1997 Toyota Camry : ( they recommend changing the timing belt at 60,000 miles severe )
Every 60,000 miles.
You don't, it has a chain.
No leave is how it is
Only the 4 cylinders have a belt. The belt should be replaced at 60,000 miles.
