You have to use a 1/2 inch breaker bar and put it in the square hole of the tensioner and turn it to release the tension of the belt.

Look at the top and left of the motor. It's easy to get to. The tension pulley is right below the alternator.
Disconnect the battery and just remove the bolts holding the alternator, disconnect the wire connection and remove the alternator.
Near the top of the serpentine belt path is a belt tensioner; it is spring loaded and has a shinney pulley on it. Insert a wrench into this tensioner and pull against it and the tension will be released so you can replace your belt. I am assuming your question is about the serpentine belt.
you will see a 1/2" square slot in the tensioner, use a 1/2" breaker or a standard ratchet with a short extension, pop that into the slot, release the tension on the belt. jr
