To get the pulley off requires a pulley puller to do it. You do not have to remove the PS pump to do it. It also takes a special tool to put the pulley back on too.

How do you replace a serpentine belt on a 1992 Oldsmobile Delta 88?

Locate the idler spring tension pully below the power steering pump. The pully is pressing down on the belt and has to be pulled away from the belt so you can remove belt from the power steering or alternator pully. You need a socket that fits the bolt on the tension pully and a socket wrench with a 2 to 3 foot pipe extension. Attach to bolt head, apply counter clockwise pressure enought to loosen belt to allow enough slack to remove belt. Do not get your fingers between the belt and any pully when removing. You might not like it. To reinstall. Route the belt and release the tension again enough to put the belt back on the last pully.

You will need a power steering pulley puller. It is designed to remove and install the power steering pulley. If you attempt to remove the pulley without it you will probably damage the pulley or the pump or both.

How do you pull off the pulley on a power steering pump on a 1993 f 150?

To the best of my knowledge on this truck you have to first remove the power steering pump then get a tool called a "power steering pully puller" and make sure you get one with the power steering pully installer with it. Your local auto parts store will have one and a few have ones they will loan you. The parts representative there should be able to instruct you on the proper use of both tools.

First you must remove the upper portin of the fan shroud. Remove the belt, take a pully puller and pull the pully off the pump while it is still in place.undo the lines out of the steering sector(remember the high pressure line goes back in the hole closest to the engine block) Remove the three bolts behind the pulley, then remove the two nuts on the bracket behind the pump one is under the manifold and the other is on the bottom of the block. THen take the pump out remove lines and hardware and place on the new pump. WHen installing the new pump, put the pump back in place and the press the pully back on after you have put all the bolts back in the pump.

No, if you do you will have no power steering. You could not steer this vehicle with the power steering pump bypassed.

No you dont need to remove the power steering pump to get at the bolts. if you go directly down from the very bottom of the pully on the power steering pump the bolt holding the top of the alternator should be right there. all you have to do is remove it and the alternator should come out.

What type of energy involved in power steering pump?

The majority of power steering pumps work off hydrolic power. There is a belt that runs from a pully on the front of the pump to a drive pully on the front of the engine (usually attached to the crank shaft). This pully turns the pump and generates the hydrolic pressure.
