Probably means that one of your cylinders is misfiring. I have had this twice and the problem was one of the ignition coils which is a very common problem with both the Scenic and the Megane.

Not sure if this works the same way as the Megane, but here goes. Put your key card in the ignition slot and press start. Do not press the clutch or brake. Press and hold in the button at the end of the light stalk for about 5 seconds, or untill it bleeps twice. This should re activate the auto lights. Well at least it worked for me

Firstly, turn the ignition on but don't start the engine, then turn the headlights on, then off, then turn them back on, then off again. (so twice on, twice off) the car should beep at you twice indicating this function has been switched on. To switch off, repeat the same steps above and the car will only beep once.

I had this, I read it is caused by an empty windscreen washer bottle so filled it but no luck. I then read somewhere that a window may be slightly open and its actually the alarm warning making the beeps so open/closed all windows and still it was happening. i then read that the child lock button may have got 'stuck' or more to the point failed in some way, so clicked it once or twice and realised the red light on the switch showing lock as 'on' hadnt come on, so pushed it a bit harder when doing it again and Voila! Problem solved! As it happens, the problem WAS something to do with the child locks! It 'sort of' righted itself, when I did similar stuff to your suggestions, but it was so long ago now, and even at the time I didn't know what I did - just that it was something to do with the child locks etc. I shall make sure I try the lock switch first if there is a next time. Many thanks. what a shame the manual couldn't be more informative - there is no section on alarm noises or cross references.
