Plug Av in, then while the ps3 is off hold down the power button until it beeps twice that should be a few seconds. This resets the video and sound settings
If the TV does not have a HDMI plug it is still possible to connect with a plug that has RCA or S-video plugs on one side and HDMI on the other. Sony has an Official Component AV cable and a Component AV cable and USB Cable Pack. Target.com has them for $30 and $20 through the link with Sony PSN. A link to the PlayStation Network PS3 accessories has been added under related links
plus cannot find component av cables that fit the slim models
I plugged the HDMI cable into the HDTV and into the PS3. Then I went to the settings for both the HDTV and the PS3 slim and set them for HDMI and sync. When it works right putting a disc into the PS3 will turn on the HDTV and also switch the HDTV over to that HDMI input rather than a cable box or similar item even if it was on the cable box when you last used the HDTV.
HDMI gives a potentially higher signal quality than component video - but whether you will get higher picture quality depends on the quality of your input signal. Blu ray needs HDMI, but anything at 720i or lower will get by on component.
You have to go to your settings and correct them. You no longer will have HD capability with the A/V cables that came with the PS3. You really have no reason to use the A/V cable with a HDTV. The A/V cable will only give 480i or standard TV. Decent HDMI cables can be found at a reasonable or sale price and if thy don't work perfect just return and exchange them
In order for the PS3 to work best on a HDTV you need to have or purchase either an HDMI or a component AV cable and connect the PS3 to the HDTV. The PS3 will play on a HDTV when it is connected with the AV cable that was provided, but it will not be in HD
The PS3 has two USB inputs and an AV multi out, a HDMI out, an Optical audio out, and an ethernet port.
The AV cable that comes with the PS3 is not for HDTV set up. You need to purchased a HDMI cable or a Sony PS3 component cable and then it should work.
absolutely its alot quicker and better graphics out of it as well i suggest you switch if your tv has HDMI
you have to buy the hdmi cable that connects the ps3 to the tv. also you have to have the hdmi setting on the tv to view it and you have to change the settings on the ps3 to read hdmi not default. the instructions should all be in the ps3 handbook that came with the system.
use Av composite cables included with ps3 or go out and get an HDMI cable and configure it with the ps3.
No find and use a PS3 A/V cable there are many unused around as many people used a HDMI cable instead of the cable that came with the PS3
When your PlayStation 3 has been set to output audio/video through HDMI, you can change the settings to output to a non-HDMI monitor by connecting the PS3 system to the monitor in question by means of the AV Multi-Out port. After this is complete, hold down the power button on the front of the PS3 system. The PS3 will then detect the new connection and readjust its settings accordingly. If this does not work on the first attempt, hold down the power button again until the PS3's menu appears on the monitor, as it may need to cycle through different settings.
No but you can get an hdmi to AV converter.
It could be that you don't have the cable plugged into the correct spot on your TV. If you are using the AV cable that came with the PS3 and not a Component PS3 cable 2 of the RCA plugs go for sound and only one is for Video. The AV cable that came with the PS3 is not for a HDTV connection and the settings need to be corrected. While you said you changed houses you must have also changed TV's or you would not have needed to switch from HDMI. If your new TV is an HDTV then you need to purchase a PS3 component cable if it doesn't have HDMI plugs and if not you need to change your settings on the PS3. To set the PS3 setting on the PS3 back see the PlayStation Super Secrets link which I have clip and pasted below: Hold Power button down for two beeps (while PS3 is off): Reset video to lowest settings.
